£65k-a-week player rejected Nottingham Forest move during the summer

Nottingham Forest were in talks to sign former Tottenham Hotspur Davinson Sanchez this summer, before his move to Galatasaray.

The 27-year-old was free to leave Ange Postecoglou’s side following the Australian’s arrival at the club earlier this year.

Colombian Sanchez, who is reportedly earning £65,000-a-week, left England for Turkey joining Galatasaray, with Champions League football on offer.

The defender has enjoyed a good start to life at the club, scoring once in seven games – with Galatasaray sitting second in the Super Lig.

At one stage, it looked as though Steve Cooper’s side were front runners to sign the Colombian, but after Galatasaray’s bid, there was no way back for the Reds.

Better signings instead of Sanchez

After missing out on the signing of Sanchez, the Reds bolstered their backline with the signings of Murillo and Andrew Omobamidele from Corinthians and Norwich City respectively.

The pair are both 21, with the two defenders both six years younger than the Colombian international – allowing for a much better future sell-on value.

Although Omobamidele is yet to be handed his opportunity, Murillo has with the Brazilian taking his chance with both hands impressing since his debut against Brentford at the City Ground.

In the end, missing out on the former Spurs man looks to be a blessing in disguise.
