Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has withdrawn from Team Canada’s roster for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off tournament due to an undisclosed ailment. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Montreal and Boston from February 12 to 20, 2025.
Pietrangelo, 35, has been a key player for the Golden Knights this season, recording three goals and 22 assists in 46 games. He has also been a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with the St. Louis Blues in 2019 and the Golden Knights in 2023.
The 4 Nations Face-Off will feature NHL players from Finland, Sweden, Canada, and the United States competing in a round-robin format. Team Canada will now need to find a replacement for Pietrangelo on their roster
This tournament serves as a significant international competition, marking the first such event since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. It is also viewed as a potential preview for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
Pietrangelo’s withdrawal is a notable development for both Team Canada and the Vegas Golden Knights, as they prepare for the remainder of the NHL season.
