Kentucky men’s basketball players Brennan Canada and Grant Darbyshire have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for the 2023-24 season, as announced on Monday.
To qualify for this recognition, players must be juniors, seniors, or graduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher for the 2023-24 season. The NABC Honors Court includes players from all levels of college basketball, with over 2,100 players recognized this year.
Canada, who completed his fifth and final season with the Wildcats in 2023-24, has been honored by the NABC for the third consecutive year. He earned his undergraduate degree in 2022 and a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion in May 2023. Hailing from Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Canada was part of the 2024 SEC Community Service Team and a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member. He was also inducted into the Frank G. Ham Society of Character in 2022, the highest honor for UK student-athletes. On the court, Canada played in 26 games for the Wildcats.
Darbyshire, who earned his place on the Honors Court in his first year of eligibility, is pursuing a degree in business administration and finance. The Cincinnati, Ohio native is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree and made four appearances on the court for Kentucky last season. He will return to the Wildcats in 2024-25 as part of head coach Mark Pope’s inaugural roster.
