Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte could face a ban following an altercation with Arsenal’s Kai Havertz in the FA Cup.
The incident occurred when Ugarte appeared to headbutt Havertz after a contentious penalty decision. Although the referee didn’t notice the incident, the Football Association (FA) may take retrospective action.
Former referee Keith Hackett believes Ugarte’s actions constitute a “clear headbutt” and expects the FA to investigate and potentially ban the player.
If found guilty, Ugarte could miss up to three domestic matches, including Premier League games.
Interestingly, some fans are also calling for Havertz to be banned for simulation after he went down under minimal contact from Harry Maguire, leading to the penalty decision.
