Ben White couldn’t help but laugh after he netted a freak goal against a hapless Chelsea.

Arsenal produced a five-star perfromance against the Blues on Tuesday evening as they went three points clear at the top of the Premier League. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring while Kai Havertz netted a brace alongside White.

And it was White’s second goal that left him laughing. The Englishman was picked out with a peach of a pass by Martin Odegaard and he attempted to cross the ball first-time, but it looped over everyone and into the far corner of the Chelsea net.

White was shocked, and he jogged to the corner almost laughing at what he had just achieved. Amazingly, the strike was White’s second of the game, with the full-back also notching the Gunners’ second of the game.

He was asked by TNT Sport if he meant his goal, to which he responded: “I’ll let everyone else decide.” Trossard then quickly chimed in: “He meant it.”

Arsenal now have breathing room at the top of the table. And speaking to TNT Sport after the game, Arteta was full of praise for his side: “What I like is that they can manage themselves in the dressing room.

“In order to achieve that you have to leave some space. They know what we’re playing for. They are so excited, they are so at it. All of them even the players that haven’t played much. They’ve been outstanding. That’s what holds the team together. My role is to keep demanding.”

The Gunners can now turn their attention to the North London Derby on Sunday, where Spurs will be hoping to deal a major blow to their bitter rivals’ title ambitions
