Carolina begin their preseason this week.
The Carolina Panthers have a new head coach in Dave Canales, and they are expecting big things.
Canales has a reputation of improving quarterbacks during his time with Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Panthers fans will be hoping Canales’ appointment brings the best out of Bryce Young, who has a couple new weapons at his disposal in 2024.
The Panthers added wide receiver Xavier Legette during the 2024 NFL Draft, as well as running back Jonathan Brooks.
But it is veteran wideout Diontae Johnson, brought to the Panthers in a trade with the Steelers this offseason, who has been impressing Canales during training camp.
Canales was quick to name Johnson as the player bringing the most energy to practice sessions, and said he work ethic is improving the whole team.
Speaking to the Up & Adams Show, Canales said: “Diontae works on his craft all the time, he’s an absolute pro.
“It’s great to show that example to the younger players, and it trains everyone.
“He makes everyone work, and it is a conditioning thing as well, so I’m really happy with where we are going.”
The Panthers begin their preseason action against the New England Patriots on Thursday evening.
