Kelee Ringo, former Georgia Bulldogs defensive back and current NFL player, has nothing but praise for his alma mater’s coaching staff. In a recent interview, Ringo defended Georgia’s program, countering recent criticisms from former players who claimed the team mishandled their development.
Ringo, who played a crucial role in Georgia’s back-to-back national championships, emphasized how the coaching staff, led by Kirby Smart and defensive backs coach Fran Brown, prepared him for the next level. “They prepared me perfectly for the NFL,” Ringo stated. “From the moment I stepped on campus, the standard was set high. The work ethic, the attention to detail, the way they teach the game—it’s all designed to make you successful.”
His comments come amidst a wave of former Bulldogs players speaking out about their experiences with the program. Some, including an ex-Georgia wide receiver and quarterback, suggested that coaches either held them back or mishandled injuries. Ringo, however, dismissed such claims, reinforcing the idea that Georgia’s coaching staff pushes players to be their best and ensures they are ready for the highest level of competition.
Drafted in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Eagles, Ringo has quickly adapted to the NFL, crediting Georgia’s intense training regimen for making his transition smoother. “There were no surprises for me at the next level,” he explained. “Georgia’s program is as close to the NFL as it gets.”
His defense of Georgia’s coaching staff serves as a reminder of the program’s recent dominance, producing NFL-ready talent year after year. While individual experiences may vary, Ringo’s endorsement reinforces why Georgia remains one of the premier destinations for top defensive recruits.
