ESPN Sources: Seminoles Head Coach May Be Eyeing Other Opportunities………see more

One of the biggest developments of the offseason was that Florida State hired former UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn to be its offensive coordinator. Malzahn has a history of coordinating some of the best offenses in the country.

Not to mention, he has beaten the Alabama Crimson Tide five times in his career (Florida State plays Alabama in the season opener).

Throughout the years, Malzahn has always had the trait of running the football. The Seminoles’ coaching staff thought that the running game would be a strength for Florida State during the 2024 season.

However, Florida State ranked 128th in the FBS in rushing offense, where they averaged 89.9 rushing yards per game.

I thought that Roydell Williams, Lawrance Toafili, Jaylin Lucas, Sam Singleton Jr., Kameron Davis, and Micahi Danzy could be effective in that aspect. For reference, UCF ranked 7th in the FBS in rushing yards per game with 248.1.

However, I couldn’t be more wrong about the position group. One running back that I think has the potential to be Gus’s RB1 is true freshman Ousmane Kromah.

Kromah was a prospect in the 2025 cycle that the Seminoles flipped away from Georgia. His size, strength, and balance as a back are special.
