Aleksander Barkov has been appointed as the captain of Team Finland for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, scheduled from February 12 to 20, 2025, in Montreal and Boston.
Barkov, who has captained the Florida Panthers since 2018, led the team to their first Stanley Cup championship last season, becoming the first Finnish captain in NHL history to achieve this feat.
Joining Barkov on Team Finland are assistant captains Sebastian Aho (Carolina Hurricanes), Mikko Rantanen (Colorado Avalanche), and Mikael Granlund (San Jose Sharks). The roster also includes Panthers teammates Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen, and Niko Mikkola.
The 4 Nations Face-Off is an international tournament featuring NHL players from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two advancing to the championship game on February 20 in Boston. Finland’s first game is against the United States on February 13 in Montreal.
