Mikel Arteta is set to face the press after Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners response to a disappointing Champions League defeat to Porto got off to an emphatic start as Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice went close before Gabriel’s header bounced off Loris Karius onto Sven Botman and just over the line.

The game was played at a fever pitch atmosphere and Arsenal did not let up. Gabriel Martinelli was found in behind the Newcastle defence by Jorginho just before the half hour mark, leaving the Brazilian to square for Kai Havertz to tap home.

Eddie Howe’s side showed more in the second half with Alexander Isak going close. Bukayo Saka then curled home from the right channel of the box just after the hour mark to end the game as a contest.

Jakub Kiwor then headed home from another Declan Rice corner to extend the lead further. There was still time for Joe Willock to come back to his old club and deny them the clean sheet though.

Arteta on the reaction

Arteta on if Jover is getting a bonus

That’s probably for the owner. The fact that we are scoring goals in various ways is really satisfying. We have to continue to do that. We have to keep getting better, and get players back.
