Earlier this week ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit made an appearance on the “Pardon My Take” podcast.
During his time on the show he was asked about Tennessee Volunteers fans “invading” Ohio Stadium amid reports they were traveling “en masse” to the College Football Playoff game. Herbstreit suggested the number of Tennessee fans couldn’t be near the 30,000 that was being reported.
Fast forward to a few days later and Herbstreit is now back-tracking on his comments, with an apology to Tennessee fans.
“I don’t think that at all. I’d never doubt Vols fans traveling for their team ANYWHERE in the country. It’s more tough to imagine Ohio State fans giving them the opportunity to buy their tickets.
That’s the tough thing to imagine,” he said while reposting an article suggesting he doubted Tennessee fans would travel well.
“If I misrepresented that I apologize-never questioning Tennessee fans traveling but more about, will they have access to get thousands of fans in there.
Hearing they could have as many as 20,000-30,000 which would be WILD to see at the Shoe! Be fascinating to see Saturday-can’t wait!” he added.
