Pittsburgh, PA – In a move that has sent shockwaves throughout the college football world, University of Pittsburgh star quarterback Kedon Slovis has announced that he will be forgoing his senior season to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
Slovis, a two-year starter for the Panthers, made the announcement on his social media accounts, thanking his coaches, teammates, and family for their support throughout his collegiate career.
“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had at Pitt, and I’m excited to take the next step in my journey,” Slovis said in a statement. “I’m confident that I’m ready for the NFL, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Slovis, a 6’3″ quarterback from Arizona, threw for over 5,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in his two seasons as a starter for the Panthers. He was a two-time All-ACC selection and was considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“Kedon is a talented quarterback who has been a key part of our program’s success,” said Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi. “We’re proud of what he’s accomplished, and we wish him all the best as he pursues his NFL dreams.”
Slovis’s decision to leave Pitt early is a significant blow to the Panthers’ offense, which will now have to find a new starting quarterback for the 2025 season. However, Slovis’s departure also opens up opportunities for younger players to step up and take on bigger roles.
The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place on April 25-27, 2025. Slovis is expected to be a mid-to-late round pick, but his stock could rise or fall depending on his performance in the pre-draft process.
