Ally McCoist blown away by what 25-year-old Arsenal star did tonight vs Chelsea

Ally McCoist was full of praise for one Arsenal star tonight in their Premier League win against Chelsea.

The Gunners built from Saturday’s victory against Wolves with a massive result at the Emirates Stadium as the likes of Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Ben White stole the show in north London with a 5-0 win.

It was an improved performance from Mikel Arteta’s side after hitting something of a slump in recent games against Aston Villa and Bayern Munich, with Arsenal tonight going three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.

And McCoist was impressed with one Arsenal player in particular tonight against Chelsea.

Declan Rice praised after ‘fantastic’ Arsenal move vs Chelsea

Speaking on TNT Sports coverage of the game, the Scottish football legend was impressed with what he saw from Declan Rice, who assisted Leandro Trossard as the Belgian got the ball rolling for Arsenal in what was a memorable night for the Gunners.

It was a slick Arsenal move capped off by Rice and Trossard, and McCoist was impressed with how the England international used his aggression and forward-thinking in his new role at Arsenal as a way to open the scoring at the Emirates Stadium.

McCoist said after Trossard’s goal: “What a start. It’s all about the aggression from Declan Rice with his piercing run. The weight of the pass and the finish is fantastic.”

“For me, watch the positivity from Rice. He forced Gilchrist to turn his body inside and he releases the pass at the right time. Great goal all round.”
