Marcus Rashford

Good morning! It’s been a quiet January transfer window for a large majority of Premier league clubs so far – although many are expected to wrap up some last-minute business today…

football.london understands that the chances of a new face arriving at London Colney this month remains unlikely. Mikel Arteta has addressed the issue, claiming the Gunners “didn’t have the capacity” to make any improvements.

Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe are two players that have dominated the headlines throughout the 31 days of the window. But with time running out, it’s difficult to see any sort of movement in either player’s case.

Newcastle’s Callum Wilson and Lille striker Jonathan David have joined Ivan Toney linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Time is running out for Arsenal but you never know.

So, with that being said, stay with us at football.london as we bring you all the latest news and transfer gossip as it happens LIVE from the Emirates Stadium!

Arsenal to assess Sambi Lokonga situation

Arsenal will wait until the summer to asses Albert Sambi Lokonga’s next steps.

The 24-year-old midfielder has become a regular for the Hatters and has performed well for Rob Edwards’ side. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has spoken about his situation at the Gunners:

“Albert Sambi Lokonga is starting to impress a lot in his loan spell at Luton Town and my understanding is that Arsenal believe they made right choice with this move,” Romano told Caught Offside.

He added: “Still, it’s been a smart one by Edu who wanted Lokonga to stay in the Premier League and play on a regular basis. In the summer, Arsenal will assess the situation before making a decision; now they just want him to focus on the second half of the season at Luton.”

AC Milan remain interested in Kiwior

AC Milan are claimed to still be considering a late move for Jakub Kiwior.

The defender has been linked with a move to Milan during the January transfer window and Calciomercato have suggested that the Italian giants ‘remain alive’ for the 23-year-old.

It is said that Milan have ‘concrete’ interest in signing a new defender. Aston Villa’s Clement Lenglet, Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham are listed as alternative targets.

Swansea City set to seal second Arsenal transfer

It appears that Charlie Patino could be joined by one of his Arsenal teammates at Swansea City.

It has been widely reported that Charles Sagoe Jr is set to sign for the Swans on loan for the remainder of the season, linking up with Patino in south Wales.

The forward, 19, made his Arsenal debut against Brentford in the Carabao Cup in September.

Hertha Berlin confirm Bradley Ibrahim deal

Hertha Berlin have confirmed the signing of Bradley Ibrahim.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been a standout player for Arsenal’s academy sides and joins the 2.Bundesliga club on a permanent deal until 2027.

Thoughts on Marcus Rashford to Arsenal

Arsenal have been linked with a remarkable move for Marcus Rashford.

The forward has been in the headlines after missing Manchester United’s cup tie with Newport County following a trip to Belfast. This has led to questions over his future at Old Trafford and reported interest from the Gunners.

Leicester City stance on Dewsbury-Hall

Arsenal have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The 25-year-old has thrived for Leicester City this season but the Foxes are ‘not open to selling’, according to the Mirror.

It is said that Brighton have already seen a £30m bid rejected and that the midfielder is ‘keen to help’ Leicester achieve promotion this term.

Will Arsenal lead by example again?

English top-flight clubs are ‘scared’ of receiving a points deduction from the Premier League and that’s why there has been a lack of transfer activity in the January transfer window. That’s according to a statistician who thinks teams have decided to go with what they’ve got between now and the end of the season.

Statistics Expert Charlie Mullan told Gambling.com: “Transfer windows often burst into life after one big signing is made, which often triggers other signings. Last summer, Arsenal signed West Ham’s Declan Rice for £105million, hoping he would help them win their first title since 2004.

“The Rice transfer left a massive hole in the Hammers’ midfield. David Moyes had James Ward-Prowse lined up as a replacement for Rice. The Hammers got their man for £30million, but it left Southampton looking for a replacement for Ward-Prowse, and so on.

“We still await the first big signing in this transfer window which might trigger more spending throughout the league.”

Would Osimhen improve Arsenal?

Former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre has claimed Napoli striker Victor Osimhen would not be an upgrade on the current options within Mikel Arteta’s squad. Speaking to bettingexpert.com, he said: “Osimhen, also a top player. Maybe a little bit more pragmatic in front of goal than Gabriel Jesus.

“I don’t think he’d necessarily be an upgrade. He’s a different type of player. Osimhen doesn’t drift as wide as Jesus. You always want your No. 9 to score as many goals as possible but he’s contributing to Arsenal’s attack in different ways.

“His movement, dragging defenders out of position and he’s making a lot of runs behind, stretching the block. He’s a key player for Arsenal’s success.”

Rashford to Arsenal… Who says no?!

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Marcus Rashford’s situation at Manchester United ahead of a potential move in the summer. The report states that the Gunners were interested in signing the England international two years ago.

With Rashford reportedly facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, it’s said that Arsenal could reignite their interest. Football Insider add that United would demand far more than the £45million which the north Londoners set aside to sign the forward back in 2022.

Do Arsenal need a new midfielder?

Palmeiras attacking midfielder Raphael Veiga has admitted he likes the idea of playing Arsenal as he set out his ambition to sign for a European club in the future. In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, he said: “I have the desire to play in Europe, but I’m also very happy to play for Palmeiras.

“I think any player has the dream of playing in the Old Continent to compete with the best players in the world, to participate in the big championships.

“I am a happy person and if that happens one day it will happen at the right time, and it will be very satisfying, and if it doesn’t happen, I will continue to be happy here.”

Veiga then went on to namecheck some of the clubs he would consider moving to, replying: “I like a lot of teams in Europe. Barcelona, Madrid, [Manchester] City, Arsenal and others like Manchester United…
