Bayern Munich star praises ‘brilliant’ Arsenal player ahead of Champions League clash

Arsenal are set to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals, where several top-class players from both sides will go head-to-head.

Whilst Arsenal will face a familiar foe in Harry Kane, and Bayern will be very aware of what threat Germany star Kai Havertz poses, both Mikel Arteta and Thomas Tuchel will have to be wary of other dangerous players on each team.

Germany star Jamal Musiala is one such player, although Arsenal are somewhat familiar with him, given that youngster Mika Biereth has admitted that the pair are best friends, having played together at academy level.

Musiala has now highlighted the Arsenal players his side need to be wary of ahead of the huge clashes.

Jamal Musiala highlights Martin Odegaard as Arsenal threat

Speaking to German outlet SportBILD, via MiaSanMia on X, Musiala praised Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, and highlighted the threats within Arteta’s squad.

“Martin Odegaard is a brilliant playmaker in midfield, but there’s a lot of quality throughout the team,” he stated.

“Saka, Martinelli, Rice, Havertz and many more. They have top quality in every position. We have to be ready for that.”

Musiala came through the academy at Chelsea prior to his move to Bayern Munich, and faced Arsenal at youth level on several occasions.

“We met Arsenal very often, they were always big derbies. We won a few more games overall, I would say today,” he added.

Musiala’s friendship with Biereth stemmed from their playing days as youngsters, and the 21-year-old is also teammates with Havertz at International level.

Both Musiala and Havertz look set to start in attack for Germany at the European Championships this summer, which is set to take place in their country, and both will hope to enter the tournament on the back of a strong Champions League campaign.

Arsenal’s clash with Bayern promises to be a fascinating one. Serge Gnabry will be facing his former club for the first time since leaving, whilst Arteta will be aiming to improve a disastrous record against the German Champions dating back to Arsene Wenger’s final few years at the club.

Musiala was even linked with Arsenal earlier this season when his contract situation looked doubtful, but he is now set to stay at Bayern, and unfortunately for Arteta, there is very little hope of signing the midfielder, who could have otherwise formed an outstanding trio with Declan Rice and Odegaard.
