Jurrien Timber shares what always wows him whenever he sees Arsenal in action

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has spoken to the Gunners media team about his time at the Emirates Stadium so far.

The Dutch defender joined Arsenal to much fanfare last summer, arriving from Ajax in a £38million deal.

However, Timber picked up a serious knee injury during the Gunners’ Premier League opening-day victory against Nottingham Forest back in August.

The 22-year-old has been out of action since then, and it remains to be seen when he’ll be back in action.

However, Arsenal named him in their Champions League squad ahead of their last-16 tie against Porto, which suggests a return may not be too far off.

This week, the Gunners published an interview with Timber, where he spoke about a number of topics including his big move and his road to recovery.

Timber also admitted there’s one thing that always blows him away whenever he watches Arsenal in action. Namely, how young the players are.

“It’s nice that we have some young players,” he said. “That made it easier for me to come in, but I have to say that although this group is young, when they are on the pitch you don’t notice it.

“When I watch us play, I forget how young they are because they look like they’ve played here for 10 years.”

Jurrien Timber return will be exciting for Arsenal and fans

It’s good to see Timber enjoying life at Arsenal, and it’ll be great to see him return to full training and eventually return to action on the pitch.

It’s also good to see how Mikel Arteta and Edu have put together a young and very talented team that’s not only shining right now, but also looks set for a very bright future.

Although Arsenal aren’t quite the finished product yet, the upcoming transfer window could well see the addition of the final pieces of the puzzle, such as a new target man.

And then, the Gunners will surely fancy their chances of glory for years to come.
