Real Madrid’s injury crisis in defence has gotten worse over the season as David Alaba picked up an ACL injury last month against Villarreal, ruling him out for the rest of the season, and possibly the 2024 Euros.

Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois are already out for the rest of the campaign, as well, while Daniel Carvajal and Ferland Mendy have picked up injuries at a few points this season.

Lucas Vazquez is the latest entry into this list, with Real Madrid officially confirming an injury to the semi-tendinous muscle of his right thigh. The evolution of his recovery will determine his return.

However, El Chiringuito TV has reported that he will be sidelined for three weeks, at least. This means he will not travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with the team for the Spanish Super Cup.

Los Blancos will take on Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals, and then one of Barcelona or Osasuna in the finals if they qualify.

Before that, though, they have to make the trip to Aranda de Duero tomorrow to take on Arandina CF in the Copa del Rey round of 32.

Toni Kroos is also missing from the squad list for this game due to ankle discomfort, while Carlo Ancelotti has chosen not to call up Aurelien Tchouameni to rest him for future games.

Vazquez, meanwhile, has been replaced by Vinicius Tobias, who is expected to start the game, with Daniel Carvajal in need of rest immediately after his injury
