Pittsburgh Panthers Captain Disagrees With The Head Coach’s Decision Of…

PITTSBURGH—Promotional dates and themes for Pitt’s seven games at Acrisure Stadium have been finalized, with three new additions to the Panthers’ highly anticipated 2024 campaign.

Pitt’s annual Homecoming weekend will feature a clash with Youngstown State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. In addition to several planned Alumni Association activities, the game will also be known as Earth, Wind & Fire Day sparked by their hit song “September” as we pay tribute to the Grammy-winning band. Pittsburgh-based Earth, Wind & Fire cover band, “Let’s Groove,” will be playing live on Roc’n on Rooney during pregame, while the Panther Pitt will receive 70s-style throwback shirts to celebrate the inspired theme.

One of the most prolific wide receivers in football history, and a Pitt legend, Larry Fitzgerald will return to Pittsburgh on Thursday, Oct. 24 as the Panthers take on Syracuse. To go along with his attendance, the game will serve as Larry Fitzgerald Night, honoring the legendary wide receiver and his selection to the College Football Hall of Fame. A limited number of fans arriving early will receive a Larry Fitzgerald bobblehead as we celebrate one of our most accomplished Forever Panthers in a game dedicated to his incredible life and career.

Finally, the Panthers will host Pittsburgh Day on Saturday, Oct. 12 against Cal, celebrating all things Pittsburgh. The game will honor the Steel City and its great athletics history with several activities, including an in-game race featuring mascots from the city’s many sports teams. Additionally, Pitt’s Fiesta Bowl Reunion teams from 1979 (45 years) and 2004 (20 years) will be in attendance.

Pitt’s 2024 home slate includes three nonconference matchups, headlined by the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia on Sept. 14, as well as several key conference games that could determine who represents the ACC in the championship matchup in Charlotte in December.
