Early hours of today official confirmation that Ohio State Buckeyes basketball head coach Jake Diebler has been fired for violating his contract agreement. Diebler, who took over as interim head coach in February 2024 following Chris Holtmann’s dismissal, was promoted to full-time head coach in March 2024 with a five-year contract.
During the 2024–2025 season, the Buckeyes had a mixed performance, finishing with a 15–10 overall record and a 7–7 mark in the Big Ten Conference.
The team faced challenges, including a loss to Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament. These outcomes led to increased scrutiny and criticism from fans and analysts, with some questioning Diebler’s leadership and calling for his dismissal.
However, it’s important to note that, despite the public discourse and dissatisfaction among some fans, there has been no official announcement regarding Diebler’s termination due to contract violations. Discussions about his future with the team appear to be based on performance-related concerns rather than any reported breaches of contract.
